Running a quarterly belt test cycle

Many schools test once a quarter. Here is how to run that cycle in QuickKicks.

Month 1: find who is ready

1. Go to Inbox › Promotions and open Ready to test. It lists students who have met every requirement for their next belt (attendance, time at belt, skills and required curriculum).
2. Talk with your instructors about everyone on the list, and anyone you think is close.

Month 2: schedule and register

1. Under Inbox › Promotions › Tests, tap + New rank test, pick the discipline, tick the belts being tested and set the date.
2. Register each candidate from the test page. Families can also register an eligible child in the QuickKicks parent app.
3. QuickKicks does not email families when you register a student, and rank tests don't collect a fee. Tell families the date, what to bring and any fee yourself, for example with an email from Communications.

Test day

1. Open the test, tap Open runsheet and Check in each student.
2. Tap Pass, Fail or No-show for each one. Pass promotes the student right away and sends the family a congratulations email.
3. Tap Issue certificates for all who passed.
4. Mark anyone left as no-show, then tap Mark completed.

A student who doesn't pass keeps their current belt and can register for a later test.

After the test

Many schools hold a short promotion ceremony in class a week later: present the belt and the certificate, and invite families to take photos.
