For instructors: recommending a promotion

Recommend a student

1. Open Promotion Candidates (/students/promotions) or Ready to test (/promotions/ready).
2. Find the student under Eligible now.
3. Choose Recommend → [next rank].
4. Add a note on why they're ready, then tap Submit for approval.

The student's rank doesn't change until the recommendation is approved.

What happens next

Staff who can approve promotions review it under Inbox › Promotions. By default that's owners, admins and instructors. They can:

1. Approve: the rank updates straight away, the stripe count resets, and the family is sent the congratulations email unless your school has turned that email off.
2. Reject: the recommendation is deleted. The reason is kept in the audit log.

Families don't see recommendations.

Your school may also let instructors promote directly with Promote → [rank]. Check with the head instructor before you use it.
